Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who signaled that he could enter the 2024 Republican Party primary election race in the USA, announced that he would not run for president, ending speculation that he would run against his former boss, Donald Trump. “We will not participate in the 2024 race,” Pompeo told Fox News on Friday. Pompeo said after speaking with his wife, Susan, they came to the conclusion that “this is not the right moment”.
Pompeo reported that his administration as Secretary of State did not play a role in the decision of President Trump to be ahead by a significant margin in the Republican Party primary election polls. The former Minister of Foreign Affairs did not close the door to a contest for the presidency later on.
