Does a haircut make it thicker?

For centuries, hair has been very important for women from an aesthetic point of view. Every pathological condition that occurs in the hair can cause deep psychological problems in the person. Therefore, hair problems and related issues constitute an important source of stress for patients.

It is not right to wash the hair every day
Stating that drug consumption is among the causes of widespread hair loss, Skin Diseases Specialist from Anadolu Medical Center, Dr. Figen Akın said, “The most common causes of hair loss in women are anemia, diabetes, chemical substances, fast and strict diets, nutritional disorders and psychological stress. In order to prevent hair loss, the underlying diseases should be treated first. Apart from this, attention should be paid to eating habits, especially a diet rich in protein and low in carbohydrates, and the consumption of green vegetables, milk, eggs, legumes. As much as possible, physical and chemical applications such as dye, gel, blow-dry should not be applied to the hair. Necessary precautions should be taken against cold in winter and dryness caused by sun and sea water in summer. It is not right to wash the hair every day. It is sufficient to wash with shampoos with a pH value of 5.5 every 2-3 days. Washing the hair frequently can disrupt the oil balance of the hair. If attention is paid to these issues, hair loss will be minimized,” he said.

Hair falls out more often in the fall
Underlining that hair loss is more in autumn than in other seasons, Skin Diseases Specialist from Anadolu Medical Center, Dr. Figen Akın said, “The reason for this is the decrease in vitamin intake due to the lack of vegetables and fruits in this season. In addition, with the colder weather, the decrease in blood supply in the area called the hair bulb, which is the part that feeds the hair, causes a decrease in the size of the onion part. This causes hair loss. But after a while, this shedding goes away on its own. If it persists, it is better to consult a doctor.
