Macedonian Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kançevksa Milevska, Mayor of Tetovo Teuta Arifi, TİKA Deputy President Ali Maskan and Turkey’s Ambassador to Skopje Ömür Şölendil also attended the opening of the project, which was prepared by the Macedonian Ministry of Culture and carried out by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
In his speech, Minister of Culture Milevska expressed his happiness to be a part of an important project of the Macedonian government, noting that this is an indication of the effort made for the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage in the country.
Stating that he is pleased that the restoration of the Double Bath, one of the important works of the Ottoman period, has been completed, Milevska said that this 16th century work has regained its former shine today.
Milevska said, “The restoration project of the Double Bath is just one of the projects that demonstrate the friendship between Turkey and Macedonia.”
TIKA Vice President Maskan also pointed out that they operate in many fields in Macedonia, where Turkey has 600 years of ties, friendship and history, and noted that they have carried out many important works with the support of the Ministry of Culture, and Double Hamam is one of them.
Noting that the city has many cultural values, Kalkandelen Mayor Arifi stated that investing in these cultural artifacts has a special importance.
