The US state legislature of Indiana became the first state to pass a local law restricting abortion, following the Supreme Court’s decision declaring abortion a constitutional right.
The state’s Republican Governor, Eric Holcomb, signed the bill into law on Friday evening.
Indiana’s state legislatures were among the first states to consider stricter abortion regulations following the Supreme Court’s decision. With the voting, Indiana became the first state to pass this type of regulation in both houses.
