Lightning struck near the White House in the USA, killing 2 people and injuring 2 others.
While thunderstorms continued in Washington DC, firefighters announced that lightning struck Lafayette Park, just outside the White House, 2 people died and 2 others were injured in the incident.
Washington DC Fire Department Spokesperson Vito Maggiolo stated that the people who lost their lives were James Mueller (76) and Donna Mueller (75), and the condition of 2 injured was critical.
Emphasizing that the secret service personnel and the park police provided first aid to the injured, Maggiolo did not explain why the victims were in the park at that time.
Emergency crews at the scene closed part of the park for use. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition. The moment the lightning struck was reflected in the cameras.
