Logistics Coordinator – FS GRAIN – Morris, IL
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of shipping routes and coordination of grain movements. The ideal Logistics Coordinator will be adept at communication, negotiation, organization, and customer service skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for planning and dispatching trucks, both company and brokered, according to daily grain elevator, customer and marketing needs while maximizing trucking profitability.
Daily communication with customers, Drivers, Customer Service team staff, Operations Managers and Merchandising staff as it relates to grain movement needs, schedule changes, and service issues.
Calculate and maintains all grain hauling job mileage and freight rates into the appropriate technology platform.
Find qualified carriers to handle brokered freight and assist with negotiating freight rates that will allow FS GRAIN to generate an acceptable profit margin.
Ensure all drivers are operating their trucks according to FS GRAIN policies and Federal, State and DOT regulations.
Maintain and grow professional relationships with all Drivers, Customer Service team staff, Operations Managers, Merchandising staff and customers.
Maintain all trucks owned and leased by FS GRAIN in acceptable working condition under requirements of DOT and Federal regulations, including scheduling or ordering repairs and DOT inspections.
Maintain and complete assigned reports as they relate to logistics of FS GRAIN.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for maintaining company equipment according to company standards.
Adheres to the company uniform policy and maintains the appropriate professional image.
Turn in necessary documents and paperwork in a timely basis.
Analyze methods to improve services, communication and coordination.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requires a high school diploma and/or experience in a related agricultural field.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment with excellent communication skills.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel independently and overnight if necessary.
Must be able to work hours beyond those considered normal when necessary.
FS GRAIN is a leading grain company with 80 full time employees operating in Northern Illinois. FS GRAIN operates 20 facilities with a combined storage capacity of 40 million bushels, and access to multiple grain markets, including ownership of two Class I shuttle loaders.
