Principal Specialist, Contracts

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts contract requirements development, negotiation, source selection, and administration of contracts and/or related contractual documentation between KBR and its external customers.
  • Reviews performance requirements ensuring contract is in accordance with legal requirements, customer specifications and government regulations.
  • Issues contract and financial program documents. Structures contractual terms to reflect business strategy.
  • Initiates internal documentation to authorize and direct work in accordance with contractual specifications.
  • Monitors performance of contractual obligations.
  • Recognized as an expert within Group. 
  • Anticipates internal (KBR) and or external (Industry) business challenges and/or regulatory/ compliance issues; recommends process, product or service improvements.  Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on KBR. 
  • Mentors and advises project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Regarded as the technical expert in the Government contracting industry. 
  • Anticipates customer and industry issues; recommends product, process or service improvements. 
  • Mentors and advises team members on projects with notable risk and complexity; develops the strategy for project execution. 
  • Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business and/or multiple projects; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions. 
  • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to influence decisions.  

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a college or university degree in Business or related field and 10+ to 15 years of relevant experience. 
  • Strong oral and written communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and external parties.
  • Flexible and resilient; able to multi-task and work under strict deadlines independently and with others.  Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
